Summary

Summary is from Harper Collins Publishers website.

Her dad's got the mentality of a Teletubby (only not so developed). Her cat, Angus, is trying to eat the poodle next door. And her best friend thinks she looks like an alien -- just because she accidentally shaved off her eyebrows. Ergghhhlack. Still, add a little boy-stalking, teacher-baiting, and full-frontal snogging with a Sex God, and Georgia's year just might turn out to be the most fabbitty fab fab ever!

What I Thought of This Book

I read this book when I was fifteen or so at the suggestion of one of my dance friends. I told her that I liked it, and her dad got me the next three books in the series. Which was very sweet of him. I then proceeded not to read any the sequels for no apparent reason. Back then the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series, there were only four books in the series. Now there are ten books. Oh, the passing of time. Now I have to go hunt up six more books to complete my collection. I have decided after all this time to read all the books.

Angus, Thongs, and Full Frontal Snogging is kind of like a version of Bridget Jones' Diary for teens. I am not saying it's the same. The story lines are different, and I think the humor in this book is different. They do have a few similarities. For example: They are both in diary format, they both have wacky lead character, and they both take place in England.

If I was asked to describe this book in one word, the word would hilarious. I'm not just talking about smile while reading funny. I'm talking laughing aloud in public like a loony type hilarious. The author Louise Rennison is also a comedy writer. I can believe it. The main source of the hilarity is the main character Georgia. She is one of those characters that is lovable without even trying. Moreover, her antics as ridiculous as they are are charming. She's not the type character that I would usually like, because she's not what you might call deep. I wouldn't go as far as to say she shallow, but she certainly does sweat the small things like analyzing everything a boy said and such. I still really liked Georgia despite her little bouts of silliness.

Another amusing thing about the story is how it explores the mystery that is young men. There is this running gag about what boys actually mean when they say, "see you later." Do they actually mean "see you later," or something else? If they do mean actually mean "see you later," when is later? Tomorrow, the next day, when pigs fly to Jupiter? That was not from the book, but I have to admit it did sound a little bit like something Georgia would say.

Did I like book as much as I did when I was fifteen? I think I liked even more as an adult. It's always great to have a good laugh. I can't wait to read the other books in the series. I'm going to pace myself, because once I finish that fourth book I'm off the bookstore. I'm busy girl so I'm not sure when I can make that happen. It's hard to hold myself back from reading them. I'll probably be reading the second one before the end of the summer.

Facts I Found Interesting

The book supplies us Americans with a glossary of terms that they use in England. It was very helpful. Even though I knew many of the terms, I still found myself flipping through the glossary more than a few times.

My other fun fact fits better in the music section, so I will save it.

The Movie

The film is called Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging. The movie combines the events of this book and the sequel “On the Bright Side, I Am Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God.” They show it on Teen Nick every once in awhile. I have to say that it is pretty darn cute. The movie kept many of my favorite parts from the book, and captured the spirit of the novel. I think the girl they picked to play Georgia is perfect. It's pretty teenager geared, but it's definitely worth watching more than once. In addition, a director I really like, Gurinder Chadha directed it. She made Bend It Like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice, two movies that I love.
Music To Read By

Favorite Albums

I only got to listen to two albums while reading this book, The Boy Who Never by Landon Pigg and Poses by Rufus Wainwright. None of the songs made the playlist, because they do not fit the really book. They are still wonderful albums, so check them out. I think if I had listened to more albums, I probably would have listened to Blondie. Songs by that artist pop into my head when I think of this book.

Here is a fun musical fact I discovered. In the book Georgia's crush, Robbie is in a fictional band called the Stiff Dylans. There actually is a band called Stiff Dylans. The band was created when two pairs of friends were recruited for the film of this book. During filming, they realized they might as well try being a real life band. Cool huh?

I thought this playlist called for some genuine pop music. I tried not to get carried away with it, but once I got on a roll with the teen pop it was hard to stop. I also used some songs mentioned in the book and music from the movie's soundtrack. I'm trying out a new color for the player. I think it looks great with the new blog layout.

That's all folks. Hey do you ever get the feeling that you have comma epilepsy? I felt that way on this one. I couldn't quit with the long sentences with a billion commas. I fix it a little bit for the finally draft so that it would be readable. It still has quite a few comma spasms. Ha ha. Oh! I want to thank all of my new followers for following. Yay! I still have to get back to a couple of you who commented for the blog hops last week. I promise to check you guys out soon.

I love the Georgia series! Me and my friends have started using some of georgia's slang and everything (red bottomosity is our favorite thing to say). The movie was super cute as well.

Visiting from the blog hop-
I love this series, though I'll warn you that I thought there were a few less-excellent books in the middle of the series, but then it picked up again around book 6 or 7. I'm looking forward to reading book 10 this summer.
