Blog Hop Time

Book Blogger Hop

Hello all. Yay for Follow Friday! Time for the Crazy For Books question and my answer.

"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"

The answer is yes. Call me insane but I almost find it disturbing to not start from the beginning of the series. I hate having the feeling that I've missed something, even if it's not something that is elemental to the story. I think only series type books I've read out of order were a few books in James Patterson's Alex Cross series. It really didn't matter on those, because none of the ones I read referenced many events from other books. As long as you know who Alex Cross is and enjoy the murder mystery you can figure out the rest. At least with the ones I read. Okay I'm starting to ramble so I'll stop now.

Hi, Jazz!
Don't worry you're not alone. I also always start with the first book of a series. And I think I will stick to that forever. :D

Have a nice weekend!

Hey! I'm your newest follower; just stopping by on the hop to wish you a great weekend!

I like your banner. Very cool! I try to read the books of a series in order. But I mix them up sometimes in error. I should pay more attention to these things!

Hopping through. New follower. I love your blog header. Like you, I'd only read a series out of order if the order didn't really matter.

I can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series' story
doesn't run chronologically.

That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child's Reacher novels) then I don't feel the need to start with book one.

On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch's Battlestar
Galactica novels) can't be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.

Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!
