My Epic Reading Adventures: "Comic" Relief

Chapter 2: "Comic" Relief

I had a majorly awesome moment of brilliance last night. I can read my one of my favorite things, graphic novels (a.k.a comic books) to help me complete more books quickly. I actually don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. I mean I've been wanting to read more comics anyway, and the reading challenge says as clear as day that they count. How very silly of me. It turns out that my new Nook Color has more than a few Mangas you can buy. That sounds very shiny! I've already chosen Neil Gaiman's 1602 as my re-read and primary book pick. I've been wanting to re-read it for a really long time, so I'm very excited.

In other news. I have changed my blog font. I like fonts that look hand written, because I want the blog to have a journal/notebook look. However, with the last font periods, exclamation marks, and really any grammatical necessity looked flipping nonexistent. Yesterday it started to give me a "nervy spaz" (Yes, that Georgia Nicolson book did take over my brain. I am now using phases like nervy spaz instead of nervous spasm.) I love this new font. It still looks hand written, but far more readable. To add to it's awesomeness it's very bold. Yay for readability! Notice how you can see the exclamation point. Double Yay!

My mother downloaded word processor on to my notebook computer that has a grammar check. Thank you God! Of course mother I thank you as well. Believe it or not my notebook did not come with software like that. I kept having to write on Google Docs on one computer. Then copy and paste into word processor on another computer. Paste semi-corrected work on to Google docs, and then post the blog on which ever computer I felt I could sit comfortably at. It was getting so annoying to have to use two or three different computers to post a review. Now I only have to use two or even one if I so choose. My mom is still helping me look into the voice recognition software. She is so good at searching for stuff like that. I don't have the patience.

I forgot to put something on my will not list yesterday, so I am adding it now. I will not get overly involved in reading fanfiction. I do this so often. I can't help it. I started reading fanfic when I was 12 and I haven't been able to let go since. Nerdy I know. I'm not saying I won't read it at all (since I did read some today after all). I'm just saying that I am no longer going to spend all day reading a 30 chapter fanfiction when I should be reading an actual book.

I want to thank Teacher/Learner (don't know your real name dear) for the lovely comment on my last post. It really lifted my spirits. It's nice to hear that my hear that my struggles to improve my skills despite my learning differences can inspire people. I've have my struggles with my dancing because of these learning issues as well, but I feel that my problems have made me a better teacher, and as my motor skills improve I keep making new discoveries about my skills. I'm hoping the same thing will happen with my writing. By the way, you guys should all go check out her blog Whatcha Readin', Books?. It's quite a fun read.

Progress Report

Number of Books Completed This Week: 3 (v.g.) (That means very good by the way.)
Number of Books Left to Complete: 83
New Primary Books Chosen: 1602, Hamlet
Miscellaneous Comments: I'm right on track so far. I hope I can do as well next week. I think I will since I have the 4th of July off work. I read a little of every book yesterday. I finished Knock Out by My Nunga-Nungas last night, and Fearless tonight. Last night I even got around to my secondary books Glass and North and South. I had to read North and South to relax me after the stupid choices of the main character in Glass started to give me a "nervy spaz." Ha ha. Keep it shiny all!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment; I really appreciate it. The Babysitter Murders is indeed a good book, and I hope you enjoy it if you pick up a copy when it comes out.
I've got to admit, I've not read much fanfic. Any recommendations?
Thanks once again,
Rachel Star

haha, I totally know what you mean about getting sucked into a good fanfic. You know you *shouldn't* be reading it, but that doesn't stop you from clicking on the next chapter!

Looks like you've got a lot of good reads on the docket. I look forward to reading your take on them!

Smiles!
